(Woodstock NY) March 26, 2010: BOUKMAN EKSPERYANS, one of Haiti's most well-known bands, is headlining the “One Voice for Haiti” benefit concert for earthquake relief on Friday, April 23, 7 PM to Midnight at Back Stage Productions, 323 Wall Street, Kingston, NY, 2 hrs north of NYC. Those donating good, working musical instruments to be distributed to Haitian musicians can attend for free. The Haitian People’s Support Project, www.HaitianSupportProject.org was founded twenty years ago by Haitians Pierre and Terry Leroy. It is a Woodstock-based non-for-profit organization that supports many grass root operations in Haiti. The organization’s most immediate concern is to help five orphanages in Port Au Prince that house 400 children. Local, Hudson Valley projects include a tent collection program, and the Children Helping Children Across Borders campaign. An invitation for Hudson Valley residents to donate musical instruments for the thousands of musicians whose instruments were lost or ruined in the earthquake is being spearheaded by the Creative Music Studio (www.creativemusic.org), the Woodstock-based nonprofit dedicated to the notion that “music is our common language” and is a healing force.

One Voice For Haiti is being co-produced by Evelyne Pouget and the Creative Music Studio. "We're producing this concert not only to raise desperately needed funds for Haitian orphanages, but also to spread the word in the Hudson Valley. Our goal is to have our community 'adopt' 400 orphans in five orphanages," said Pouget.

Back Stage Productions has generously donated its space for the cause. WKZE 98.1 FM is the concert’s radio partner; other area sponsors will be announced soon.

If one cannot attend the event but would like to contribute to this Haitian earthquake relief project, monetary donations can be sent by check or money order to:
Haitian People's Support Project and mailed to:

HPSP, P.O. Box 496, Woodstock, NY, 12498
The Haitian People's Support Project (HPSP) is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization
